This year, the city of Belém do Pará, in the Brazilian Amazon, will host the United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP 30, in November. One of the challenges in the pursuit of climate justice is to include residents of the peripheries in debates and in the development of public policies. Artist and filmmaker Joyce Cursino explains how civil society has been organizing for the event, and talks about the role of cinema and audiovisual in environmental activism.
